LightWire worked their magic Tuesday night (Aug. 19) on America’s Got Talent, as the quarterfinals got underway.
The Brazilian dance troupe cast a spell on viewers and AGT judges during the earlier rounds, and they were back at it by way of another brilliant, luminous display.
With a mindboggling array of digital graphics and epic, otherworldly images, all set to a dramatic soundtrack, LightWire is a standout in this 20th season.
As the performance came to its colorful conclusion, judges Simon Cowell and Spice Girl Mel B were immediately on the feet. Cowell would, of course. He gave the act his Golden Buzzer. “I know what I would do,” he remarked at the close.
Mel B chimed in: “I’m so angry that I don’t have a Golden Buzzer. But I’m even more annoyed that that was Simon’s Golden Buzzer, because that was outstanding.”
We’ve seen these guys before, remarked Sofia Vergara, “but this is something special. Mesmerizing. Everything. The soundtrack should be a movie. It’s spectacular. Mindblowing.”
Howie Mandel also loved what he saw. “This is the epitome of what someone would buy tickets for and see in Vegas,” he enthused. “I’ve got to tell you, live that was one of the most specular visuals.”
Cowell didn’t hold back. “This was one of the best live performances I’ve seen,” he remarked, struggling to be heard over the screaming crowd. “I was thinking that, whether it’s the World Cup or the Olympics, you know when you see something really incredible at the opening ceremony, this is something on a par with that.” Seriously, he added, it was “that good.” Better, even, than their previous efforts.
Will armchair viewers feel the same? All will be revealed soon. The results of the Live two-hour competition will be revealed during a one-hour Live episode Wednesday night (Aug. 20). The three top vote getters progress, and stay alive with a chance to win the $1 million grand prize.
